Turn Off the TV Activities
Join the Turn Off the TV fun at the Fairfield library. How many days can you last without watching TV? Stop by the library to register and pick up a calendar to track your days. Win prizes or even a chance to win a limo ride to school. Children age 3 to those in 6th grade are welcome. Children must be registered in order to participate. In March the library will hold the following activities in addition to the usual programs to help the children in their quest to avoid TV. You do not have to participate in Turn Off the TV to register for these programs.
Beach Party
Wednesday, March 3 at 6:30 to 8 pm. Age 3 to 6th grade. Enjoy a day at the beach in the winter. Wear your sunglasses and tropical shirts!
Free-For-All-Craft
Saturday, March 6 from 1 to 3 pm. Grades K-6. Dig for dinosaur fossils at the library.
Breakfast with Mother Goose
Thursday, March 11 at 10:30 am. Age 2-5. Help Mother Goose whip up a batch of yummy pancakes.
Fancy Nancy Story Time
Monday, March 15 at 6:30 pm. Age 2 to 1st grade. Join Miss Katie for an especially elegant storytime.
Crafty Tots
Celebrate March by making a lion and lamb craft at Crafty Tots. Preschoolers age 2-5 can join Miss Katie on Tuesday, March 16. Come in anytime between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. Registration is required.
Bookworms K-1st Grade
Join Miss Katie at Bookworms, a story time just for kindergartners and 1 st graders. Wednesday, March 31 at 4:30 pm. Registration is required.
Rookie Bookies
Book Club for Parents and Children
Parents and children are invited to share their love of reading at Rookie Bookies. This book club is for children in grades 2-4 with a parent. This month’s selection is Never Glue Your Friends to Chairs by Katheriene Applegate. Join the group on Tuesday, March 30 at 4:30 pm for a fun discussion and games. Books are available at the library. Stop by, pick up a copy and register to join.
Adult Craft
Everyone’s favorite craft is back! Join the adult crafters to make jewelry on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 pm. Check out the sample at the front desk and register to join the group.
Book Wars!
Show your competitive side at Book Wars as readers compete for prizes in games based on Jade Green by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Book Wars is open to children in grades 5-8. Books are available at the library. So grab a book and get ready for battle on Monday, March 29 at 4:30 pm. Registration is required.
Teen Book Club
The Teen Book club will read Bound by Donna Jo Napoli this month. Teens in high school are invited for a fun discussion with Miss Katie on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 pm. There will even be snacks! Books are available at the library. |

Book Discussion
The Adult Book Club is reading The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti this month. Join the group for discussion on Monday, March 8 at 7 pm. Books are available at the library.
Crafty Kids
The Crafty Kids are making plant stakes for spring this month. Children in grades K-6 are invited on Wednesday, March 10. Come in anytime between 6:30 and 7:30 pm. Registration is required.
Irish Night
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, on Tuesday, March 16, the Fairfield library will host a concert by Morning Dew, a musical quartet performing traditional folk music from Ireland. Morning Dew features Amy Beshara on fiddle, L.E. McCullough on tin whistle and flute, Pete Ford on guitar and banjo, Steve Wickins on bodhran (Irish hand drum). This is lively historical music with commentary by L.E. McCullough, a Doctor of Ethnomusicology and author of several books and articles on Irish music. The concert will begin at 7 pm. Come early for refreshments at 6:30 pm.Please register at the library. No toddlers or babies please.
